June 4

Had my phone call appointment with the Hematologist this am.  No definitive answers which is very disappointing but can also be a good thing because it is not bad news.   At this point the next potential steps would be taking a steroid for 4 days and if that does not help then they will do a bone marrow test (or whatever they call it).  The hematologist will be conferring again with my oncologist to see what they collectively think next steps should be.  In the meantime, I cannot receive any more treatment because my numbers continue to be low (last count for platelets was 90).  More blood tests to take place next week.  Fingers crossed.

Hello everyone  Life has been hectic, crazy and sad these last 4 months and because my routine changed from going to Vancouver every 1.5 weeks and staying there 1.5 weeks to going down every 3 weeks leaving Whitehorse Wed and flying back on Fri, it left me little time to fit in updates. I know, I know, excuses, excuses!  None the less, my treatment in January went well and reports on the CT scan were good. February, I got really sick and was not able to go out for treatment. My next visit was March 5-7 and March 26-28. Inbetween those dates, I took some me time and headed to Las Vegas with Ralph, Miranda and Neil and got to spend some time with Shiela and Jim who were also in Vegas. We had a great time and the weather was good. Made our regular donations at the slot machines but we know our limit and stay within it.....lol. Embracing the adage "enjoy life while you can", I decided (and Ralph agreed) that we could buy a new travel trailer with a slide out. Our traile...

Well, it's Friday and all day yesterday I thought it was Wednesday so yay me, weekend came early. My last appointment in Vancouver went well.  My brother, Dorian, was able to go with me and help with support.  Thanks Dorian. I had a CT scan, blood work, oncologist appt and infusion.  All the regular but with a little extra.   I have been a little anxious about my scan results but I received good news today.....my scan was stable, meaning it has not changed from the last one which means I continue on the study. My blood pressure was up which was very strange because my pressure has always been very good but apparently this can happen on the BEV drug.  I am now supposed to monitor it at home.

Dec 30 - Finally catching up

Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year to all! 馃巹馃巹馃巹馃帀馃巻 My apologies for not keeping up on my blog.  As the treatments continued, I went down hill in energy and could only manage to keep up on the basics. Oct 4 was the last day of my triplet therapy.  Triplet therapy is where I received two chemo drugs and one study drug (Bevacizumab).   My white cell counts and my neutrophiles all dropped drastically.  Oct 7, I had a 3.5 hour nose bleed in the morning and another in the afternoon but for not as long.  I had another a day later and was told to go to the hospital by my oncologist.  My blood tests came back with platelets at 33 and neutrophils being below 1.  I then had to go to emerg every day for blood work and my platelets went down to 15.  Platelets were ordered from Vancouver because we don't have any in Whitehorse but I managed to stay above 10 so did not need to get it done.   Back to Vancouver Oct 23-25 for appts and CT ...

Sept 25

On the road again.....woops, I mean....Ịn the air again. Yes it is that time!  Heading back to Vancouver for my last cycle, cycle 6 of chemo.  Now don始t go getting all excited and all.....I still have to go to Vancouver every three weeks, it will just be for shorter periods of time now.   So providing all the results come back in the best way possible, I will continue on the study. I will get randomized by the computer and that will determine if I am to continue on just the study drug that I have been taking - Bevacizumab or if I will also start Mirv, the other study drug. The flight was full today and very squishy, was not the most comfortable and I ended up with a veggie sandwich....was hoping for roast beef but that始s what you get for sitting in the back. But hey, Air North feeds you so really can始t complain. This cycle my sister, Miranda will be with me again and my daughter, Kiarra will join me at the end. A big thanks to Jacob and Ralph for supporting me throu...

Went to Beetlejuice with Jacob on Saturday. Was pretty good and enjoyed the time with him.  We went to the Keg for steak dinner on Sunday. Always love the steak there.  Monk headed home on Monday and Ralph flew in. Been very tired but have been trying to get some extra sleep but being a late night person makes that very difficult and because breakfast is from 7:30-8:30 you don始t even get any sleep in time.. Been busy at work but not quite as much as the week before and after school started. Don始t get me wrong, it is still hard to stay on top of but doing my best. Today was painting day and we chose a winter scene. Not my best work but had fun doing it. Got to visit with Glynis and Neil for a while which was really nice.

Sept 6

Had my infusion today.  Everything went well and had a little cat nap while watching a show on my ipad.  Then back to the lodge to finish off work for the day.  Jacob was with me and we made a bit of a ruccus in the room today, which I might add was full and my chair was broken.  He was watching facebook clips or tik tok or something and kept showing me clips that had us in stitches. Breakfast today was poached eggs, turkey sausages and raison toast with peanut butter and raspberry jam. Lunch was quiche and a broccoli salad.  I really like quiche.  Dinner was chicken sante fae with rice and mixed vegetables.   We took it easy for the evening and I crocheted some items for a new project and watched some shows. Tomorrow we get to sleep in an extra half hour because breakfast starts at 8 instead of 7:30.  Yay us!
