June 14 & 15

Chemo Cycle 1, day 1

June 14

It's that day.

I bought some of those oh satisfying squishy stress things to take with me.  Once I got up to check in, anxiety kicked in.  I started fidgeting and having troubles breathing and the emotions welled up along with tears.  No control what-so-ever!  Managed to calm that down a bit until I got into the chemo room and then it poked up it nasty head again.

All hooked up

First was saline, then gemcitabine chemo drug, then carboplatin chemo drug, then Bevacizumab known as Bev which is an angiogensis inhibitor, then saline again and good to go.

So as my sister says, don't try any funny business and I didn't.  So far I am feeling ok, just a bit of a headache and tired.  Hopefully, the next few days will continue to go well.  My next chemo day is June 21.

One Can Only Hope

I was feeling decent other than dozing a bit during treatment and so we walked a short distance to the Winners store.  Wow, talk about finding everything under the sun.  We walked out with so much stuff.  Too much to pack around and on the bus so we had to Uber it back to the house.  Got a new water bottle that has a combo lid on it and am just stoked and a couple ice trays since I am never without ice at home and have not had any since getting here (in my water cup).

Got back to the room and there was a note to see the front desk.  First thought, "What did we do?"  It was all good.  My wonderful, loving and caring sister-in-law, Beverly sent me flowers.  馃┓

June 15

The kids headed home and my sister is here taking over looking after me.  We walked with the kids to the metro to get our daily walk in and then hugged and kissed and sent them on their way. 馃洬  I am so very lucky to have family and friends who are willing to spend time down in Van while I am doing treatment.

Today is a catch up on my blog, do some beading, have a nap 馃挙and overall rest day.  After we walked with the kids, we stopped at the Safeway got some awesome tuscan tomatoe soup and a couple other things and then headed back to the room.
