July 21

Dina, Kiarra and myself went to Chadburn lake to paddle board.  I bought mine last summer (near the end) and never even got it out of the box.  Dina purchased her around the same time and I think she had it out once or twice.  I also bought an electric pump cause there was no way that I was pumping that puppy by hand.  I watched Kiarra do it last time and I pretty much would have dropped after the first few minutes.

We had a great afternoon, after I finally got on the board.  Nothing like having a beach full of people watching you try and sit on your paddle board for the first time.  I am none to graceful at this point in my life and was very grateful that Kiarra gave me a hand.

Dina and I tried standing once we were out of eye shot of the beach.  Dina went first and was successful but not sure she wants to do it again....lol.  I went second.  I managed to get part way up and then proceeded to belly flop onto front end of my board and then into the water.  I have to say that I was a little concerned about getting beaver fever after I gulped down a big mouthful of water.  Getting back on the board proved more difficult than standing on it.  Impossible!  No upper body strength on this gal and I had to swim to the shore to get back on.  Good thing we were not that far from shore.

After my water dip

After a few hours of paddling around, the weather started to turn from a beautiful, if not hot, day to storming.  The wind was kicking up, the clouds rolled in and the thunder started.  We paddled for shore!  We no sooner got to shore and to the vehicle when big dust/dirt wind clouds covered us.  That was very unpleasant.  So glad we got off the water when we did.

Had a great time with Dina and Kiarra.  Thanks for taking me out as I need to keep up on the exercise.
